From waste problem to resource.
The FriGeo method of Freeze Drying is based on our northern experience of natural freeze-thaw cycles. By achieving DW levels of up to 85 % it is possible to expand your remediation options and turn your sludge into a valuable resource.
FriGeo Freeze Drying is an effective and environmentally sustainable way of drying sludge. Through advanced freeze technology an optimized freeze-thaw cycle is created to remove bound water and transform the sludge into coarse particles with low water content. The FriGeo method increases the dry weight content of the sludge to DW levels of up to 45–85 %.
Due to the high dry weight content achieved the eco-friendly method of Freeze Drying also offers economic benefits. Since Freeze Drying reduces the quantity of sludge which requires handling by 50-80 %, transport and remediation costs can be kept to a minimum. In fact sludge that has been dried through the FriGeo method can be reclassified as a soil material.
Compared to conventional methods of drying the FriGeo method creates more varied options for remediation, refining and recycling. After Freeze Drying sludge can for example be used as biofuel, providing a valuable energy gain. Ultimately, through Freeze Drying, sludge can be transformed from a potential waste problem into a beneficial resource.
