Arctic Experience

Based in Kiruna in Swedish Lapland the technology and ideas of FriGeo AB developed from a unique collaboration between professionals from the advanced and pioneering industries of the region. Underground mining, space exploration and ice engineering are some of the fields that make Sweden’s northernmost city into a highly creative environment.

Due to our location, we have gained a natural experience of ice. Above the Arctic Circle ice roads have always provided an important means of communication and at ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, the practical and aesthetic qualities of ice have become a world attraction.

Our in-depth knowledge of the dynamics involved in natural freezing processes led us to develop the unique FriGeo Freeze Method which forms the core of our three services: Freeze Dewatering, Freeze Dredging and Freeze Salvage.

We claim with confidence that our method saves both money and the environment compared to conventional techniques. As a company with roots in the fragile subarctic ecosystem we strive to minimize our environmental footprint while leaving a permanent mark on the industry.

FriGeo derives and shares its arctic experience with Luleå University of Technology and was the proud recipient of the LTU award, Spin-Off Company of the Year, in 2009.
