FriGeo gets large foreign order – decontaminates a nuclear power plant

FriGeo is a strongly growing and prize winning company within environmentally decontamination. Now they have got a large mission in England, where they will detoxify radioactively sludge from a resigned nuclear power plant (NPP) with their ground-breaking method of freeze dredging. – We are very delighted and this order shows that our method is one of the best in the world, says Mats-Johan Rostmark, CEO at FriGeo AB.

The contract was signed last week and the order is made by Magnox South Sites in England, which has a resigned NPP that needs to be detoxified. FriGeo will deliver equipment for freeze dredging to the company and then supervise the detoxification of the radioactive material in the bottom of the cooling tanks. – Our method does the decontamination much more efficient which also makes it much safer for the staff, since it limits direct human contact with the radioactive material and the radiation. It also gives the company a lower cost for the after-treatment and storage of the radioactive sludge, says Mats-Johan Rostmark. It is the first foreign order for FriGeo and the company is now investing a lot in the abroad market: – We hope that this order opens new doors for us abroad and we will definitely do an extensive investment in the international market, says Mats-Johan Rostmark. In correlation of the operation in England and the international investment, FriGeo will also present their new dewatering method – The Frigeo-Method – which is totally unique in their industry: – The FriGeo-Method makes it possible to dewater and dry the contaminated material in the same process, which is completely unique. When using this method it gives the company more opportunities in how to after-treat the sludge and we believe that is very important, says Mats-Johan Rostmark. The innovative and eco-friendly work of FriGeo AB has received nationwide recognition as the company has won the Best Eco cycle Detoxifier of the Year category of the Swedish Recycling Award last autumn.
